Salt Water Aquarium Tips and Tutorials

72 gallon Bow Front Reef Aquarium Updated

This is my saltwater reef tank its a 72 gallon bow front, I use a protein skimmer filtration system (is there any other? lol) and a calcium reactor which has been a pain to get working right, a 1200 gallons per hour water circulation pump, a 300 watt heater and a 1/5 hp Chiller to keep the water cool in the summer.

Lighting is 48″ CORALIFE Pro HQI Metal Halide/Compact Fluorescent with 4 LED Moonlights.

Sorry to hear that. I don’t really know but try to keep it in a stress free environment while it’s trying to get better, and get some Garlic Guard to mix and soak it’s food in to help boost its immune system.

I want to put a glass top on my tank really bad because I can’t stand the evaporation rate. My tank is a 36gallon with a hang on protein skimmer that has a part which can be taken off to allow a little gas/oxygen exchange. I’m thinking, if I cover up the whole top tank will I there be enough oxygen for the fish? The opening/exposure from the skimmer is about 5inx4in. Do I have to measure the carbonate hardness or will I be alright? Thanks

I ordered a tank the EXACT same as yours. I was planning on putting 2 oscars in it but my dad said a lady living near us is moving and giving a 55 gallon tank with all the supplies and I’d put my oscars in there and make the 72 gallon being ordered into a saltwater tank. How long would it take until I can put saltwater fish into the 72 gallon if it will be here in 1 week?
