I have a 1950’s bedroom set and the chest of drawers sustained water/salt damage from an aquarium. Help!?

Most of the top of the chest just has "white" water marks. There is a 5-6" area where there is water damage and it looks very dark. Water also dripped down the sides of the chest. The stain is very light and I am wondering if I can still have this same light finish. What do I do besides yell at my niece? Is there a way, that after I get the water marks off and the damage fixed, I can "spread" the good color stain over the rest of the top? These salt water stains are really a mess.
