what do i need to set up a 55 gallon salt water aquarium?
come september im wanting to set up a 55 gallon salt water aquarium with live rock and fish. info on salt water aquariums? know any cool salt water fish? i want community fish.
welcome to salt water fish keeping!
you still have a bunch of time from now until september. i would definitely look around online to see how to start a tank. most of the things are the same as freshwater, the same cycling, the only thing new is salt! really read into it, its interesting and you’ll be prepared when you see the things happen. as for fish, i would go with dwarf angels or anything smaller for a 55 gallon. my favorite dwarf angel is the flame angel. they really catch your eye, try to look for a really red one when you go to your fish store (i recommend going to a local fish store taht specializes in fish, not petco or walmart, etc). and with most of these community fish, you can add shrimp! they always are really interesting to look at, starfish are fun additions, and of course, snails or hermits. good luck! email if you need additional info!
