I would go to many different fish forums and get some advice from people who have had some experience.

Id start out with a smaller tank to begin with, as saltwater tanks are pretty hard to maintain. My first attempt was a 20gal with clown fish and it worked pretty good. Here is a website that might be helpful. Good luck.

A few that I usually post in my answers to saltwater questions (for further reference for the people asking questions here) are these:
the basics:

http://www.fishlore.com/SaltwaterBeginners.htm
http://www.wetwebmedia.com/
I would also suggest a good book on keeping a marine tank – these come in handy if something should happen to your computer. Two that I found helpful when I was starting in saltwater were The New Marine Aquarium by Michael S. Paletta. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-52-1 or The Conscientious Marine Aquarist by Robert M. Fenner. Microcosm Ltd. ISBN 1-890087-02-5
The wetwebmedia website is also Robert Fenner’s work, so the info is similar.
