Should I choose a salt water aquarium or a fresh water?
I used to have a fresh water aquarium and I want one again. I am trying to decide between fresh water and salt water. Which one is more fun to have. I like the agressiveness of freshwater fish (I had oscars,a pirhana, and arrowana) but I like the colors of saltwater fish. Which tank is easier to maintain or more fun to have?
That depends on what you are looking for. There are some really beautiful saltwater fish out there as I am sure you are aware. However, you must remember that keeping any fish tank is work. Expect alot more work with a saltwater tank, alot more testing, alot more money, etc… So in that regard the freshwater would be best. Also you must remember that there are also some great freshwater fish out there whether you are looking for great colors or great eaters! I think that you should go with freshwater if only because you know what you are getting into. If you want a challenge and you have the extra money and time go for saltwater and get some finding nemo fish!
they are both fun but… salt water are hard to take care of and alot of money… and freshwater are easier and cheaper… what ever you chose will be great

freshwater is easier, hands down. And cheaper. It’s hard to beat the colors and atmosphere of a reef tank, though. If you view it as work, it is work, but if it’s your hobby, you won’t mind so much. Many people love to take care of their high maintenance reef tanks.
On the other hand, there are a lot of very colorful FW fish. African cichlids, blue rams, discus, etc.

a fresh water tank can be really boring. i have both and i prefered the reef tank(salt) its harder to take car of more money but you can get really neat looking things like from the discovery channel. i say if u got the time and money go with a salt reeftank about 50 gallons is a good sized reef tank

Based on your question Freshwater is easier to maintain, and if work is your biggest concern then it will be more fun. However if you don’t mind the added work in maintaining the salt water aquarium then it might be the better choice.
Think about how often you did water changes and annual cleanings. Now double that, is that still something you’d enjoy? Granted the larger the salt water tank the less work it becomes, but it will be more expensive. You have to weigh out the options, to really know which is for you.
Salt water fish are usually the prettier fish, but as a previous poster replied there are pretty FW fish as well. SW tanks usually boil down to, Can you devote the time, effort, and care into giving the animals the quality of life they desearve?

Fresh water
Fish in this catagorey are cheaper, colorful, and you don’t have to by expensive salt to mix, also, saltwater fish need HUGE 100+ gallon tanks to live happily.
I also like freshwater aquariums because I like to make awsome groups of guppies, and complement them with diffrent fish groups, and have a good set-up for maybe a month or two, and it isn’t expensive to change it. Guppies are also fun to breed because I’ll have like four males and when a female gets ready to drop, everyone gets excitied because we also like to figure out which male fathered the drop.
Cory cats are fun to. They are quirky, hyper, fun-loving, and can be spaztastic. They love to scavange, and the small ones have their own personalities. Mine are mainly the spazy kind, but they are always on the move, and give off a sence of perpose and fun.

My awsome aquarium
i had the same problem as you but i chose a fresh water as it was cheaper and easyer to take care of, my new fish have settled nicely and i have not regreted picking a freshwater tank, i would say fresh water is better.
they are also easyer to clean as fresh water aquariums dont have to have corel or live plants so in fresh water you dont run the risk of damaging them
