Salt Water Aquarium Tips and Tutorials

Will live rock grow on to other rocks in my salt water fish tank?

I just started a salt water tank and purchased a large piece of live rock, was wondering if this would grow to other large pieces of dead coral I currently have in my tank?

Live rock doesn’t "grow." The rock itself isn’t alive; it’s called that because it’s teeming with bacteria that will cycle the waste in your tank rapidly and efficiently.

Over time, the bacterial colonies will spread to cover every surface it can find, including pieces of dead coral.

How do you properly clean a salt water fish tank?
